Heating & cooling
View 14 has ducted underfloor heating, controlled from the panel on the wall by the small passage into the main bathroom.
To heat: press the I button (not the 1 button). The screen may say "Pre-heating, please wait". After a minute or so, turn the dial to the temperature you'd like – 21–23° is usually right in winter.
To cool on hot days: press the 1 button to circulate air through the house.
To turn off: press the I button again. Please turn the heating off whenever you go out.
Please keep the floor vents in every room clear. The system is gas-fired, so you may see steam venting from the side of the house by the back deck – this is normal.
Gas fire
Push the black knob at the bottom of the fire in and turn it to Pilot until you hear gas flowing. Hold it there for 20 seconds.
Still pushing in, turn the knob slightly left with a quick movement until the pilot light comes on (on the right-hand side of the fire).
Keep holding the knob in for about 10 seconds with the pilot lit.
Slowly turn the knob left while gently releasing it. The flames will light, sometimes after a few seconds – please don't lean over the fire to check.
To turn off: turn the knob all the way right to Off.
Stovetop & oven
Stovetop: the burners light themselves. Push the knob in, turn and hold until the flame lights.
Oven: open the door about three-quarters of the way. Push the oven dial in and turn it, then hold it in while moving the door gently up and down until you hear and see flames under the bottom plate. For fan bake, turn the right-hand knob until it clicks once past 12.
Grill: use the right-hand knob only and choose a setting from 1 to 12. You don't need to light the oven.
Having trouble lighting the oven? Call Chris on 021 780 764.
Dishwasher
Press the far left button to turn the dishwasher on, press the far right button to start the dishwasher.
BBQ
There's a 4-burner gas BBQ on the deck with the gas bottle attached. When you've finished, please turn the gas off at the bottle and give the BBQ a clean.
Rubbish & recycling
There are two lined bins in the pantry, and spare liners are in the second drawer down on the right of the island bench. When they're full, please empty them into the rubbish and recycling bins down the left-hand side of the house (as you face it). The bins are collected on a Tuesday morning. If you happen to be staying on a Monday night we would appreciate you putting the bins kerbside for collection, otherwise Libby will come to do this.
Kitchen & cleaning
Please don't put hot dishes or pots straight onto the table – heat mats are in the pantry.
Dishwasher tablets are under the sink.
The vacuum, brush and pan are in the hallway cupboard closest to the kitchen.
Garden
The lawn and garden are yours to enjoy. In summer our gardener may pop in to water.
First aid
There's a first aid kit in the bottom drawer under the basin in the main bathroom.
